The 2012 South-South Awards

The 2012 South-South Awards at the Waldorf Astoria in New York23 September 2012, New York, USA - The 2012 South-South Awards ceremony was formally launched during United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation. The theme, “E-government and Sustainable Tourism,” showcased how digital governance policies and approaches to sustainable tourism were making significant impacts on the wellbeing of people worldwide, and therefore honored government leaders and other important figures within this area. The Awards gala ceremony was attended by top political leaders, UN officials, A-list celebrities and development icons.

Entertainment was provided by Don Felder, world-renowned musician, Angelique Kidjo, and Miri Ben-Ari, Grammy Award winners. Renowned Latin singer and five-time Grammy Award-Winner Gilberto Santa Rosa was honored with a Lifetime Culture Achievement Award.
